Barry Swithenbank joined The Club Theatre last year, 1999. He had become interested in amateur theatre at school in Solihull, and on leaving became a member of the Solihull Society of Arts. He then joined Hall Green Little Theatre in 1958 and remained active until his job transferred to Manchester. Problems of work and travel then prevented participation although he did join the Carver Theatre in Marple for a short period.
When heavy Engineering collapsed in the late sixties he became a licencee and held licences at the Bulls Head, Hale Barns (22 years), and The Shrewsbury Arms, Little Budworth (6 years). Barry retired in September 1998 but was not able to recommence activities until 1999 after a period of ill-health.
His main interests are lighting and set construction although in years gone by he did stage manage
