Manchester and Salford Film Society offer

Manchester and Salford Film Society have been based at the Club Theatre for three years now.  Coming in on the last Saturday of each month for two showings, they show a variety of films.
On March 31st 2000, the Film Society will be showing the widely acclaimed
East is East. George Khan, proud Pakistani and chip shop owner, rules his family with a rod of iron.  He thinks he's raising his seven children to be respectable Pakistanis - but this is Salford in the North of England in 1971.  For the several kids of George Khan,

life is one long compromise.  Tomboy Meenah prefers playing football to wearing a sari, hippie Saleem pretends to be studying engineering when he's really at art school, heart throb Tariq has a reputation as a local casanova, and Sajid hasn't even been circumcised yet. In the Khan's cramped terrace house with its scant indoor plumbing, anarchy erupts on a daily basis.  East is East is the hilarious story of what happens when two cultures collide within one family.
Normally, entrance is restricted to members

only, but the organisers have decided to break the rules.  They have kindly agreed to offer a limited number of seats at the 7.30 pm showing to members of the Club Theatre, at a bargain price of £4 per seat (less than you'd pay at a cinema).  Please use your booking form to order your seats.
We are very grateful to the Film Society for making this offer, and we hope you will take up their offer. This is a fantastic opportunity to see a brilliant film.  Remember there are only limited seats, so book early!

The highly acclaimed East is East showing soon at the Club Theatre!

Return of the Dunham Massey Singers

Last year, approximately 100 of us were lucky enough to have got seats at The Club Theatre for a concert by the Dunham Massey Singers.  Directed by our very own multitalented Val Harris,  this small group of local women, with guest artiste John Banks, had us well and truly wowed!  We were treated to a feast of music and monologues, covering all possible emotions.  From plaintive chants, through comic ditties and well-known rousing

anthems, this group did it all.  The monologues were equally varied, with thought-provoking comments on old aged, and hilarious spoofs leaving the audience non knowing whether to laugh or cry.
And the best bit is, they're coming back!  Yep, the Dunham Massey Singers are back in town, so don't miss them!
The concert will be held at The Club Theatre on Tuesday February 20th,

2001, starting at 7.30 pm.  The bar will be open from 7.00 pm and again during the interval and after the show.  Do stay behind and meet the choir - if you're worried about parking, there's Sainsbury's car park, and if you're worried about driving we have numerous non-alcoholic drinks!  So there aren't many excuses left for you not to come!
Tickets can be booked on the play booking form.  Don't miss it.

The Dunham Massey Singers
are back in town!
