I don't know how many of you are 'on the web' or otherwise wired up to the internet. It's a strange thing, to be sure, asking your computer or television to pick up the phone and dial up some information stored somewhere in China or America or Timbuctoo. And while it has its potential for abuse, as does all new technology, we at the Club Theatre decided that as it was here, we might as well make use of it. Our website was started two and a half years ago by one of our members,

Trevor Allen. Main-taining the original site became rather complicated, however, when Trevor moved to Gibraltar (he's back now, but we didn't know that it was only going to be a short visit!). So Ian Bowden, our chair-man and very own Mr Gadget-Man, created a new site for us, at www.clubtheatre.org.uk. It has e-mail addresses for all the committee members, so that if you want to tell any of us anything, at any time, you can just send it straight to us. It has a

printable membership form for visitors who decide they wish to join, and also each newsletter is 'uploaded' soon after it's been sent out to all our members, so that it is accessible online to non-members who are interested. So go on, have a look, and what's more, encourage people who don't know much about us to have a look too. And if you have any suggestions as to what else we could have, e-mail us! We'd be glad to hear from you.

What a fantastic pantomime!

And as for the actors - well, what can you say? Apart from one or two, it was their first pantomime as well, and pantomime demands quite a different approach than the usual type of play. The pirates were real pirates, as comic as they were scary; the bumbling good guys bumbled to perfection; the romance blossomed, the rivalry sharpened, and from up in the perch it was clear that the audience loved every minute of it. Treasure Island was, quite simply, a success. It was, mind you, a hard-won success. The amount of work demanded from everyone involved was tremendous, and the pressure was quite intense. But the success was achieved. And now everyone is totally recovered, we're looking back with nothing but happy memories and laughter. I'm sure the next pantomime will be just as good. ("What did you say - the next pantomime? Ready? RUN FOR IT!!)
